Who or what is Buster the Bus?
Buster the Bus is a minature, robotic school bus equipped with working stop sign, crossing gate, and flashing red lights just like a real bus. Buster has unique features that make him loveable, such as big eyes that open and shut. He comes with a voice and music to play. He tells a very important message of school bus safety to children. Children love Buster the Bus !
Who should use Buster?
Only educators who have gone through the training at the ROE and want to teach a school bus safety program for students. Two adults per program are required to go through the program, one to operate the bus and one that walks with the bus in a group of children. Children are encouraged to give Buster the Bus a hug or kiss but may need to be reminded not to sit on or poke things at the bus.

About the Operator
The operator provides much of the excitement the robot conveys. The selection and training of the operator should be done carefully, so as to provide a person with good judgement and outgoing personality. The operator is the single most important feature that the robot has. Neverthe less, with a little practice anyone can learn to operate the robot and even those with a shy personality can be very effective using the robot.
Children of all ages are strongly attracted to the robot. Teams are suggested so that one adult can ensure children do not get to excited about learning about this lifelike school bus. This person is available to answer questions and interact with the bus. The area in front of the bus should be clear of children for about a 10 foot radius.
Common sense should be applied in the use and learning about the bus safety.
How can Buster fit into my curriculum?
As a teaching tool, Buster, can be used to provide supplemental instruction for safe walking, school bus riding, emergency evacuation training and other areas of student safety.
